Current ACGME requirements define psychiatry around prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of behavioral, addictive, and emotional disorders, while also requiring knowledge of related medical and neurologic conditions.

Caring about mental health is important. Enjoying the daily cognitive and relational work of Psychiatry is something more specific: narrative listening, biopsychosocial formulation, safety awareness, boundaries, longitudinal relationships, and multidisciplinary care.

What you will experience

Your original VignetteRx work sample presents conflicting information: a patient story, collateral history, medical context, nursing concern, and changing safety information. You will identify what remains unknown, compare possible formulations, communicate uncertainty, and decide what requires supervision or escalation. This is a structured look at the work of listening before acting—not legal or institutional-policy training.

Build evidence from real experiences of listening, difficult communication, teamwork, reflection, and uncertainty. Practice answers to:
